Rev. 22:17 What can I say about the theme, aspiration, and heart of this book? What can I say about Christ's Divine-Humanity and about our divine-humanity? The salvation effected by Christ is accomplished in the individual soul, which is more precious than the world. And the path of the individual soul consists in the feat of the struggle against sin, against the tragic rupture in the soul of fallen man.

He subsequently elaborates his own doctrine of the Divine-Humanity. In the middle sections he considers the roles of the Divine Sophia and the creaturely Sophia, examines the foundations of the Incarnation, and explores the nature of Christ's divine consciousness. 13 Especially profound and fruitful is Bulgakov's discussion of Christ's kenosis, which should serve as a model for every human being who is trying to realize his own divine-humanity. Of key importance for Bulgakov here is Philippians 2:6-8, where Christ is described as taking on the form of a servant and humbling Himself.

The task of Apollinarius's Christology (a task shared by his successors) was to understand and affirm the unity of the God-Man, given the authenticity of the Incarnation and the reality of the human flesh assumed by Him.
